Art Village Karjat invites seven full-time artists to participate in Lumina Co-Lab, an intensive, 5-day art residency. This unique experience challenges artists from diverse technical backgrounds to transcend individual practice and collaboratively design, curate, and produce a single artwork that explores the dynamic interplay of Ceramics and Light.
The final piece will be featured in a public showcase and potential sale listing (subject to curator approvals and completion) at Art Village Karjat, providing a lasting legacy of this collaborative effort.
The core of this residency is to resolve a single artistic statement: To create an integrated art piece using light and ceramics.
Participants will move beyond simple illumination, exploring how light can play with clay and vice versa—through texture, shadow, transparency, or reflection—to produce a cohesive, thought-provoking sensory experience.
We are seeking seven artists who meet the following stringent criteria:

✓ 5 day shared dorm stay
✓ 3 buffet meals
✓ Access to studio
✓ 1 time firing in electric kiln (pit firing may be explored if all agree to it and if recommended by the senior ceramic artist based on the final artwork)
✓ (5 kgs experimental + 5 kgs prototype) 10kgs of clay
✓ Mentorship
✓ 2 workshops by the mentor

You have to apply to the residency through the form below. You will receive a call to make sure you are aligned with the residency and take any questions you may have.
It is of utmost importance for us to create a non judgemental and a safe space for artists to tap into the flow of creativity during the residency. If your application is shortlisted, you will receive a call to schedule a video call with the residency curator and the head of art village.
This call is to gauge your openness to experiment and co-create in collaboration with other artists. This small step helps us and you to have an insightful, positive and memorable art residency experience.
An acceptance letter DOES NOT confirm your spot at the residency. An acceptance will be sent to all artists whom we believe are the right fit for the specific cohort for the residency. Seats will be blocked on a first come first serve basis.
